Privacy Regulations: Using AI Tools to Achieve Compliance
Privacy Compliance refers to business requirements to protect the personal information of customers and employees. Regulations, like the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and, in the US, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), have been enacted to protect personal identifiable information (PII).
Compliance with these new regulations has many businesses scrambling. The requirements are challenging. The meet the challenge, some compliance solutions are applying AI. Gartner forecasts that within the next three years more than 40 percent of privacy technology solutions will be using AI. AI can help improve both the speed and efficiency with which businesses can respond to privacy requests.
Mark Cassetta, senior vice president of strategy at Titus, said that “finding and dealing with sensitive personal data is just as difficult as determining which corporate information has retained or lost its business value over time.”
Bart Willemsen, research vice president at Gartner, said that “the speed and consistency by which AI-powered tools can help address large volumes of SRRs not only saves an organisation excessive spend, but also repairs customer trust. With the loss of customers serving as privacy leaders’ second highest concern, such tools will ensure that their privacy demands are met.”
