Analysts had high expectation early in the year.  But people sheltering at home this year from the pandemic may spike the numbers even stronger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/getdoc.jsp?containerId=PRF003967\">Jitesh Ubrani<\/a>, research manager of IDC mobile device trackers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cmswire.com\/digital-workplace\/why-ar-and-vr-usage-is-expected-to-grow-in-2020\/?utm_source=cmswire.com&amp;utm_medium=web&amp;utm_campaign=cm&amp;utm_content=all-articles-rss\">said that<\/a> &#8220;as an increasing number of consumers and employees stay indoors and look to AR and VR solutions for ways to collaborate with colleagues and entertain themselves and their families.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some additional facts and factors behind the dramatic growth are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.idc.com\/getdoc.jsp?containerId=prUS45679219\">Augmented and virtual reality (AR\/VR) sales<\/a> will jump 79% to $18.8 billion in 2020, according to IDC.<\/li><li>Immersive Learning Solutions is a major area that will also promote growth of AR\/VR technologies, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jff.org\/what-we-do\/impact-stories\/jfflabs-acceleration\/2020-immersive-learning-technology\/\">according to a report by JFFLabs<\/a>.<\/li><li>About one-third of AR\/VR spending will be in the consumer segment, according to IDC.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And statistics from Hired show that tech businesses began staffing up on AR\/VR technology skills a year or two ago.
