Now commercial users are required to purchase support for Oracle Java.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The consequence of Oracle&#8217;s decision is that many products that use Java already have or are planning to move away from Oracle support for Java JDK.  In fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/snyk.io\/blog\/jvm-ecosystem-report-2018\/\">according to a report by Snyk<\/a>, 80 percent of Oracle JDK users are considering alternatives.  Similar results were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azul.com\/press_release\/azul-systems-addressable-market-opportunity-increases-to-2-5b\/\">reported by in a parallel survey by Azul Systems<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2019, 70 percent of JDK users were using Oracle JDK, but that number dropped to <a href=\"https:\/\/snyk.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/jvm_2020.pdf\">34 percent in a February 2020 report<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/bill-coleman-4a342b103\/\">Bill Coleman<\/a>, Azul\u2019s Chairman of the Board,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.azul.com\/press_release\/azul-systems-addressable-market-opportunity-increases-to-2-5b\/\"> said that<\/a> &#8220;leading industry analysts agree that the majority of Oracle\u2019s JVM customers are looking for a more cost-effective open source solution which supports otherwise unsupported older releases.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What are the alternatives to Oracle JDK? <a href=\"https:\/\/openjdk.java.net\/\">OpenJDK<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eclipse.org\/openj9\/\">Eclipse Open J9\/IBM J9<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.android.com\/studio\">Android SDK<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azul.com\/\">Azul<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<div
