Businesses thrive by being able to navigate changes in customer preferences, technology and politics. They must continually be on the lookout, observing the world around them, making decisions, and taking actions that will lead to positive business outcomes. Gartner calls this process of forward looking and planning ‘Continuous Foresight’.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Navigation is difficult. Today’s business climate is dominated by VUCA — volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. The future must be continually re-invented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are the steps of Continuous Foresight?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Scan <\/strong>– Scan the world around your business. Take into consideration factors like technology, politics, economy, cultural changes, the regulatory environment, and ethics.<\/li>
  2. Analyze<\/strong> – Synthesize the information collected and begin to identify patterns and possible scenarios.<\/li>
  3. Recommend <\/strong>– Make decisions about the path forward and get buy-in from the business team and organization about the vision for the future.<\/li>
  4. Execute the plan<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
