What’s the direction of AI? Deloitte’s 3rd annual study of AI<\/a> in the Enterprise tries to answer that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As maybe expected, the results of the Deloitte study are that AI is poised to transform businesses of all types and sizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paul Silverglate<\/a>, vice chairman at Deloitte, said that<\/a> “AI will be viewed as a necessity by more and more organizations in a post COVID-19 world and the leading organizations are figuring out how to make it a strategic competitive advantage. In a future where AI is ubiquitous, adopters should be creative, become smarter AI consumers, and establish themselves as trustworthy guardians of customer data in order to remain relevant and stay ahead of the competition.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Striking is the conclusion that many companies realize that building AI systems from scratch might have powerful results, but the investment and risks are too high. Most companies say that they will prefer to buy AI capabilities off-the-shelf or pre-made, rather than attempting to build their own apps or tools that use AI. Three-quarters of the executives surveyed thought that all enterprise applications will include AI capabilities. Half of companies say that they will not invest in any direct AI development, and only 8 percent of companies say that they plan to build all of their AI capabilities in-house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Businesses feel that because AI has proliferated so quickly into applications that they’re able to participate without a direct investment in AI staff talent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
