Goldman Sachs recently outlined their forecast<\/a> for IT markets in 2010.\u00a0 They predict an upward swing in PC sales because of organizations that will be upgrading to Windows 7.\u00a0 Goldman also thinks that merger and acquisition activity will pick up in 2010.\u00a0 And they see big gains for cloud computing.<\/p>\n

Goldman says that the IT market dropped 8 percent in 2009, but they are forecasting 4 percent growth in 2010.
\nIT shops will increasingly adopt server virtualization to better utilize server resources and to operate more efficiently.\u00a0 Goldman also predicts that in 2010 organizations will begin to opt for desktop virtualization, expecting that market niche to grow to nearly $2 billion by 2013, but this is something that people have long talked about and has never gotten much traction.<\/p>\n

In 2009 Goldman tallied the cloud-computing market to be $17.4 billion, and they expect cloud computing to rapidly grow to $44.2 billion by 2013.<\/p>\n
