The <a href=\"https:\/\/pharmafield.co.uk\/in_depth\/how-bioelectronic-medical-devices-are-transforming-modern-healthcare\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pharmafield.co.uk\/in_depth\/how-bioelectronic-medical-devices-are-transforming-modern-healthcare\/\">size of medical device market<\/a> itself is huge at $6 billion in 2020.  But the area of organic bioelectronics, the use of organic materials as electronic components, is another area that has potential &#8216;game-changer&#8217; possibilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Organic bioelectronics could potentially enable materials with a new range of properties.  These new materials could have important application that go beyond use just in health care and medical devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scholar.google.com\/citations?user=gecOX9kAAAAJ&amp;hl=en\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/scholar.google.com\/citations?user=gecOX9kAAAAJ&amp;hl=en\">Dr\u2009Paddy Chan Kwok Leung<\/a> at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Hong Kong (HKU), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lab-worldwide.com\/novel-organic-semiconductor-important-breakthrough-for-flexible-electronic-devices-a-970970\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.lab-worldwide.com\/novel-organic-semiconductor-important-breakthrough-for-flexible-electronic-devices-a-970970\/\">said that<\/a> &#8220;many traditional rigid based electronics such as display panels, computers and cell phones would transform to become flexible and foldable. These future devices would be much lighter in weight, and with low production cost. Also, given their organic nature, they are more likely to be biocompatible for advanced medical applications such as sensors in tracking brain activities or neural spike sensing, and in precision diagnosis of brain related illness such as epilepsy.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These kinds of materials &#8220;open the door to a fundamentally different approach to electronic device design, mimicking biological networks and creating multifunctional circuits from purely biodegradable and biocompatible components,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2020\/04\/200424150734.htm\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2020\/04\/200424150734.htm\">said<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ee.columbia.edu\/dion-khodagholy\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ee.columbia.edu\/dion-khodagholy\">Dion Khodagholy<\/a>, assistant professor at Columbia University.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
