The eHealth Records market is growing quickly.\u00a0 The market for electronic medical record systems by 2015 is expected to exceed $5.4 billion in North America, and to reach $1.4 billion in Europe.\u00a0 That’s a forecast made by Global Industry Analysts, Inc<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Reasons for growth of this market include changes being made to improve the management of the medication process, improve the reimbursement procedure, improve clinical operations, and create staff efficiencies.\u00a0 In the US, clearly government incentives are also behind a lot of the growth.<\/p>\n

The GIA report says that “there are prolific opportunities in less-penetrated markets as physician practices and inpatient centers continue to adopt electronic medical records and digitize relevant areas. Though the operating costs are high and continue to increase, providers are sizing up their portfolio for better positioning in the future.”<\/p>\n

Another report by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and sponsored by Dell predicts <\/a>that the amount of medical\/health data needed to be managed is going to see tremendous growth.\u00a0 Driving this growth “megatrend” is the “aging wave”, regulatory demands, “the rise of home care”, and better technology that enables more detailed and precise data collection.<\/p>\n

In the US, hospitals are struggling to manage a flood of data, particularly information collected for regulatory and compliance reasons.\u00a0 The average small and medium-size hospital has on average 75 data servers.<\/p>\n
