Earlier this year the <a href=\"https:\/\/infrastructurereportcard.org\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/infrastructurereportcard.org\/\">American Society for Civil Engineers put out their report card for overall US infrastructure<\/a> and also a state-by-state ranking.  They gave the US a C- score.  The report estimates that we will need <a href=\"https:\/\/infrastructurereportcard.org\/solutions\/investment\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/infrastructurereportcard.org\/solutions\/investment\/\">more than $2.0 trillion<\/a> over the next ten years to rebuild and close the gap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why?  Consider some of the statistics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Every two minutes somewhere in the US there is a water main break.  6 billion gallons of treated water are lost every day, enough to fill 9000 swimming pools.<\/li><li>43 percent of US public roads are rated poor or mediocre<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.industryweek.com\/the-economy\/competitiveness\/article\/21130932\/crumbling-infrastructure-is-hurting-americas-competitive-edge\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.industryweek.com\/the-economy\/competitiveness\/article\/21130932\/crumbling-infrastructure-is-hurting-americas-competitive-edge\">More than 54,000 bridges across the US are rated as &#8220;structurally deficient&#8221;<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.industryweek.com\/home\/contact\/21130933\/michael-mcgarry\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.industryweek.com\/home\/contact\/21130933\/michael-mcgarry\">Michael McGarry<\/a>, chairman and CEO of PPG, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.industryweek.com\/the-economy\/competitiveness\/article\/21130932\/crumbling-infrastructure-is-hurting-americas-competitive-edge\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.industryweek.com\/the-economy\/competitiveness\/article\/21130932\/crumbling-infrastructure-is-hurting-americas-competitive-edge\">wrote for IndustryWeekly<\/a> that &#8220;Our deteriorating national infrastructure is not solely a state or federal issue. It is not a small or large business issue. It is not a Democratic or a Republican issue. Infrastructure is an American issue that directly affects our ability to compete in the global marketplace and provide financial security for millions of American families.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Biden is now considering a sweeping $3 trillion plan for improving and investing in US infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/person\/hanlon-seth\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.americanprogress.org\/person\/hanlon-seth\/\">Seth Hanlon<\/a>, a senior fellow at the liberal Center for American Progress think tank, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/03\/22\/business\/biden-infrastructure-spending.html\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2021\/03\/22\/business\/biden-infrastructure-spending.html\">said that<\/a> \u201cPresident Biden\u2019s plan represents a stunning shift in priorities, addressing many of the nation\u2019s most pressing challenges. As reported, the plan is very wide-ranging, reflecting the fact that we\u2019ve underinvested in so many areas.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">$3 trillion is a huge number, especially when it would be a follow-up to recent massive stimulus investments.  Mitch McConnell, Senate Republican lead, said that &#8220;we\u2019re hearing the next few months might bring a so-called infrastructure proposal that may actually be a Trojan horse for massive tax hikes and other job-killing, left-wing policies.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
