Gartner has named the top eight trends in cybersecurity for 2021<\/a>. They are as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cybersecurity Mesh<\/strong> – Centrally manage and orchestrate the policies and functions of security services across the organization and even now outside the traditional enterprise perimeter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Identify-first Security<\/strong> – Authentication that provides access to valid users anytime and from anywhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security to support Remote Work<\/strong> – With large numbers of workers now working remotely, security needs to fully support these workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tech-savvy Boards of Directors<\/strong> – Increasingly board of directors will bring on members with security\/cybersecurity backgrounds to help advise and guide companies through risk and security issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Security Tool Consolidation<\/strong> – Businesses will simplify security and reduce risk of misconfiguration or mismatch in capabilities from different providers by using tools from a single or a few vendors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Secure Computations<\/strong> – Many companies have worked out how to encrypt data via SSL and when stored, but the data needs to be unencrypted in order to perform calculations. Vendors are beginning to develop methods to protect in-use data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continuous Breach and Attack Simulation<\/strong> – Rather than periodic or annual security checks and penetration tests, companies will begin to have continuous or much more frequent security assessments to help IT groups track the capability of their security defenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Machine Identities<\/strong> – Increasingly bots and nonhuman entities are accessing network resources. It will become increasingly important to also manage the identities and trust of these entities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
