data-id=\"https:\/\/www.csail.mit.edu\/event\/mit-future-data-trust-privacy-initiative-launch\">MIT has launched a new initiative called MIT Future of Data, Trust, and Policy<\/a> that will research how technology can meet demands of public policy when handling personal and data and privacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/people.csail.mit.edu\/devadas\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/people.csail.mit.edu\/devadas\/\">Srini Devadas<\/a>, professor at MIT, <a href=\"https:\/\/sdtimes.com\/data\/mit-future-of-data-trust-and-privacy-initiative-launches\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/sdtimes.com\/data\/mit-future-of-data-trust-and-privacy-initiative-launches\/\">said that<\/a> \u201cthe goal is to solve challenging problems of collaborative data analytics and machine learning where sharing data provides significant benefit to all participants, while also preserving strong privacy protections.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/cap.csail.mit.edu\/members\/initiatives\/mit-future-data-trust-and-privacy\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/cap.csail.mit.edu\/members\/initiatives\/mit-future-data-trust-and-privacy\">MIT Future of Data, Trust, and Privacy<\/a> will attempt to address the following issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Database <\/strong>&#8211; Address governance issues and develop audit accountability tools that conform to GDPR and requirements from other regulatory bodies.<\/li><li><strong>Cryptography<\/strong> &#8211; Develop better ways to use cryptography to protect personal information and preserve privacy when data is stored and used in computations. <\/li><li><strong>AI and Machine Learning<\/strong> &#8211; Improve the handling of privacy in ML algorithms and be able meet legal requirements for explanation and bias assessment.<\/li><li><strong>Data Portability<\/strong> &#8211; Improve the management, tracking, and accountability of data used in API communication.<\/li><li><strong>Human-Computer Interaction<\/strong> &#8211; Evaluate how privacy policies affect user behavior and experience and provide feedback that can be used when designing systems and deciding policy.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p
