Currently the main use of chatbots is to pop up on websites and enable brief interactions with  users to speed their access to finding information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The technology that drives chatbots is called<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ultimate.ai\/blog\/ai-automation\/how-nlp-text-based-chatbots-work\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.ultimate.ai\/blog\/ai-automation\/how-nlp-text-based-chatbots-work\"> NLP, Natural Language Processing<\/a> and nuances of the technology can be characterized as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>NLP (Natural Language Processing)<\/strong> &#8211; enables machines to understand human language to improve human to machine interactions.<\/li><li><strong>NLU (Natural Language Understanding)<\/strong> &#8211; focuses on the comprehension and meaning of spoken and written language.<\/li><li><strong>NLG (Natural Language Generation)<\/strong> &#8211; focuses on creating spoken or written response to enable communication with a human.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Teaching machines to interact with humans using natural language is challenging.  <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sundar_Pichai\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sundar_Pichai\">Sundar Pichai<\/a>, CEO at Google, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/5\/26\/22454513\/google-future-of-search-conversation-ai-mum-lamda\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/5\/26\/22454513\/google-future-of-search-conversation-ai-mum-lamda\">said that<\/a> \u201clanguage is endlessly complex. We use it to tell stories, crack jokes, and share ideas. The richness and flexibility of language make it one of humanity\u2019s greatest tools and one of computer sciences\u2019 greatest challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/waimwong\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/waimwong\/\">Wai Wong<\/a>, CEO at ServiceAide, <a
