AI stands for ‘Artificial Intelligence’. Many worry what the ultimate consequences of advanced AI. AI has also been criticized and called ‘Artificial Ignorance’ because of the many examples that have emerged where harmful biases have been identified in the resulting AI. Others offer ‘Augmented Intelligence’ as the definition for AI and portray AI as benign and capable of enhancing the human experience. Of these definitions, the idea of Augmented Intelligence is the most positive and likely the best possible scenario. In that scenario, AI not only provides humans assistance, but also enhances our potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An article on iEngage.ai by Cognitive summarized this saying that<\/a> “the interplay between AI and human insight in corporate interactions is a virtuous cycle. When workers see the real value in collaboration \u2014 or, better yet, are incentivized and rewarded for creating and sharing knowledge \u2014 the AI systems they utilize become powerful tools for better communication and accelerated growth. The best way to go about this is by taking an augmented approach \u2014 that is, focusing on human-led interactions, while allowing AI to add suggestions and highlight areas where employees can extract knowledge.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

H. James Wilson<\/a>, author and director at Accenture, and Paul R. Daugherty<\/a>, Chief Technology Officer at Accenture, writing in an article for HBR<\/a>, warned that “organizations that use machines merely to displace workers through automation will miss the full potential of AI. Such a strategy is misguided from the get-go. Tomorrow\u2019s leaders will instead be those that embrace collaborative intelligence, transforming their operations, their markets, their industries, and\u2014no less important\u2014their workforces… Humans and Machines can enhance each others strengths.”<\/p>\n
