Gartner identified five trends related to data privacy<\/a> that business and organizations need to address over the next two years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global Strategy<\/strong> – Different countries and regions and the many differing regulatory requirements for privacy need to be incorporated into business strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Privacy-Enhancing Computations (PEC)<\/strong> – An advanced use of encryption and other technologies to ensure that data can be shared for collaboration without exposing private sensitive data. PEC can ensure that sensitive information like account and social security numbers would not be shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI Governance<\/strong> – Many existing AI frameworks and capabilities built into applications do not explicitly contain privacy controls. AI governance would ensure that sensitive data is appropriately anonymized and not included in datasets used for learning by AI models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Centralized Privacy User Interface<\/strong> – User access to and presentation of different elements of data privacy will be aggregated into a single user interface. The information tracked would include things like cookies, notices, and consent management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remote + In-Person Privacy Controls<\/strong> – As work increasingly allows both office in-person and remote access, the need to manage privacy risk becomes more complex. Privacy tracking needs to spread a broader net to account for different types of access scenarios, but it also needs to be applied with ‘clear purpose’ and ‘low friction’.<\/p>\n
