Infrastructure as Code (IaC) is the management and automation of network hardware in a data center through software. Rather than the manual configuration of hardware, IaC contains the complete set of instructions to roll out data center hardware. Using the same software procedure provides consistency and eliminates error-prone manual steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The problem of IaC though is that the knowledge and skillsets needed to write the infrastructure code is often spread across different teams in an organization. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venkat Thiruvengadam<\/a>, CEO and founder of DuploCloud, told thenewstack.io that <\/a>“code doesn\u2019t write itself \u2014 you still need [a] tremendous amount of subject matter expertise in terms of operations and security. This idea that developers would just use infrastructure as code and build software, I think it\u2019s starting to hit challenges \u2014 because while they know how to do programming, the developers don\u2019t know operations because they\u2019re not IT [operations] people, they don\u2019t know security because they\u2019re not security people.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some see the application of Low Code\/No Code infrastructure configuration tools as the solution. Thiruvengagam said that<\/a> “a lot of people who don\u2019t have all the three skill sets still can operate at the same scale and efficiency, using this technology \u2014 that\u2019s fundamentally the core advantage.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DuploCloud<\/a>, a vendor in the IaC No Code\/Low Code space, said that “ultimately, we are going to move to no-code or low-code approaches to handle the scale and policy requirements. This is a change we are seeing for regular application development also and IaC is even more primitive when it comes to doing complex tasks and orchestration.”<\/p>\n
