The ‘Triple Aim’ <\/a>was a framework developed by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) in 2007. The term \u2018Triple Aim\u2019 was coined to represent the three simultaneous goals or \u2018aims\u2019 that healthcare systems should strive to achieve for optimization. These three aims are: improving the patient experience, improving the health of populations, and reducing the per capita cost of healthcare. The term might sound a bit unusual, but it succinctly captures the multi-faceted objectives of this healthcare improvement initiative. It\u2019s a way of saying that these three goals are the \u2018targets\u2019 that healthcare systems should \u2018aim\u2019 for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now the healthcare industry is undergoing a significant transformation, driven by something being called the \u2018Quintuple Aim\u2019 and the \u2018Data-First\u2019 approach. The Quintuple Aim<\/a>, an extension of the original Triple Aim, adds two more objectives: addressing clinician burnout and advancing health equity. The application of these principles is not limited to healthcare. They can be extended to other fields<\/a> such as animal neuroscience and bio-mechanical research, where accurate 3D pose data of subjects are required. In the construction industry<\/a>, a data-first approach is used to weigh the value of M&A activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several companies have embraced these principles. For instance, SigmaRoc<\/a>, a building materials supplier, has used a data-first approach to expand its operations across Europe. In healthcare, Oxford Metrics uses 3D motion capture technology to improve patient outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
