Their role has expanded rapidly in recent years, taking on jobs like tagging documents, routing requests to the right person or system, and summarizing large piles of information into something useful. For routine data handling, they can be surprisingly efficient, often working faster than human colleagues and without needing coffee breaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But just like any eager newcomer, they make mistakes. Sometimes those mistakes are obvious, like producing a wildly inaccurate summary or “hallucinating” facts that weren\u2019t there. Other times, errors creep in quietly, like misclassifying content so it disappears into the wrong workflow. And yes, there\u2019s the occasional digital equivalent of deleting the wrong folder, a situation that can cause hours or days of recovery work. Monitoring them isn\u2019t just about catching blunders, but also about learning how and why they happen to prevent repeat problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That means our messy legacy processes can become part of their training. The question becomes: are we actively shaping their growth with clear guidelines and clean data, or just throwing them into the workflow and hoping they\u2019ll figure it out?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their value is undeniable when they get it right, but their reliability depends on oversight, structured feedback, and transparency about limitations. The best use of AI agents is not to hand over the keys and walk away, but to treat them like part of a team: reviewing their work, correcting errors, and building trust over time. In doing so, organizations turn these digital interns into indispensable, well-trained colleagues, still learning, but less likely to lose the folder.<\/p>\n
