In 2008 Oracle’s Larry Ellison said that all the talk about cloud computing<\/a> is ‘complete gibberish’ and that he just didn’t understand what it was all about. \u00a0Two years later, cloud computing has taken more shape. \u00a0It is used now as an ‘umbrella term’ that includes Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS).<\/p>\n

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is a provisioning model where a service provider offers infrastructure elements like storage, hardware, servers and networking components on a per-use basis over the Internet or via private connectivity. \u00a0The provider owns, houses, services and maintains the equipment. \u00a0IaaS allows organizations to extend their on-premise applications and servers.<\/p>\n
