Enterprise-class software is usually equated to big dollars that only\u00a0big companies can afford.\u00a0 The trend had long been for large enterprises to lead software adoption\u00a0followed by\u00a0lighter versions of similar software eventually trickling down\u00a0for use at\u00a0smaller companies.\u00a0 But SaaS is turning this trend on its head.\u00a0 SMBs are leading the way in adoption of SaaS.<\/p>\n

AMI-Partners<\/a> report<\/a> that globally 4% of SMB software dollars are already being spent on SaaS (those companies with less than 1000 employees) and they forecast that SMB SaaS spending on CRM and ERP offerings will grow 17% in 2007.\u00a0 The biggest gorwth is predicted\u00a0to happen in the\u00a0UK, France, the US and Germany.\u00a0 In the US, SMBs spent more than $1 billion on CRM and ERP SaaS in 2006.<\/p>\n

SaaS particularly appeals to the SMB market because it disrupts the high costs normally associated with software.\u00a0 With minimal IT spending and maintenance, an SMB can gain access to sophisticted software.<\/p>\n
