Gartner Research<\/a> has released their 2010 Hype Cycle Report for Emerging Technologies.\u00a0 This year again the graph tracks the relative position of Cloud Computing by plotting Visibility versus Time.<\/p>\n

Cloud computing remains at a peak on the hype curve.\u00a0 Back in 2007 Cloud Computing was not a technology that Gartner tracked.\u00a0 It didn’t show up until 2008, and then in both 2009 and 2010 it has been placed on a position on the curve that\u00a0 Gartner refers to as the “Peak of Inflated Expectations”.\u00a0 Based on that, we might expect an upcoming period of disillusionment if Cloud Computing can’t keep up with the current hype that is circling around it.<\/p>\n

Gartner has classified Cloud Computing as a technology expected to take 2 to 5 years to cycle through the hype curve until ultimately reaching mainstream adoption.<\/p>\n

This year “Private Cloud Computing” entered the graph too, still on the upwards slope during the Technology Trigger phase.<\/p>\n
