Where did the 2010 Enterprise IT budget dollars go? \u00a0Forrester has done an analysis<\/a> of IT spending in 2010.<\/div>\n

In terms of new initiatives versus old, the bulk of IT spending typically goes toward maintaining the existing infrastructure:<\/div>\n
53 percen<\/strong>t went towards Maintaining and Operating the Organization, Systems and Equipment (MOOSE)<\/div>\n
29 percent<\/strong> went towards new initiatives<\/div>\n
18 percent<\/strong> went to allocate expansion of capacity to support growth<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In terms of spending categories, IT budgets in 2010 were allocated as follows:<\/div>\n
32 percent<\/strong> went to pay full-time IT staff salaries<\/div>\n
19 percent<\/strong> went to pay for software<\/div>\n
18 percent<\/strong> was spent on hardware and infrastructure purchases<\/div>\n
13.8 percen<\/strong>t went on third-party IT services<\/div>\n
13.1 percent<\/strong> was spent on telecom and network services<\/div>\n

The five key objectives for IT in 2011 are as follows:<\/div>\n

  2. Upgrade capabilities to better handle disaster recovery and business continuity<\/li>\n
  3. Enable better use and integration of mobile technologies by employees and customers<\/li>\n
