NASA <\/a>has recently contributed their Object-Oriented Data Technology<\/a> (OODT) to the Apache group, and the technology has been promoted to a Top-Level Project (TLP) at Apache. \u00a0As a TLP, OODT will receive project management and resource support from the the Apache foundation. \u00a0Development for OODT can be traced back to 1998 at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to a project started by Daniel Crichton<\/a> that had the goal of providing a framework to share and search large amounts of data that are distributed across widely separated locations.<\/p>\n

OODT has been used in managing data workflows and in the integration of information originating from structured and unstructured information data sources. \u00a0Using OODT, it is possible to aggregate data from many different sources and create a single interface as a federated query system.<\/p>\n

OODT is python-based and consists of the following components:<\/p>\n
