While the economy may still be quite a ways from firing on all cylinders, some areas in IT are beginning to pick up. \u00a0Storage is one area that is looking bright. \u00a0A principle reason for the optimistic outlook is the rapid growth of data in organization. \u00a0 The amount of data being generated, collected and stored by organizations is skyrocketing, making data storage management one area of IT that really can’t be be very easily ignored.<\/p>\n

A recent survey by CommVault<\/a> finds that data storage management is on the top of many IT manager’s minds. \u00a0David West, Vice President at CommVault, said <\/a>that “Our customers have been telling us that the continuing data glut is creating undue cost as well as the risk of data loss and business disruption. \u00a0They need to fix these problems without dramatically increasing their budgets, which has been a recurring theme for the past several years. In 2011, companies will still need to do more with less, but they’re also investing more in modern solutions that solve these real-world IT challenges while leveraging budget allocations to the fullest.”<\/p>\n

IT managers from all business sectors including government, education, manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, engineering and retail were included in the survey. \u00a0 More than half of those polled are in charge of managing anywhere from 6 to 25 terabytes of data.<\/p>\n
