Both medium and large-sized companies are bullish about the benefits of Business Process Management (BPM). \u00a0While most companies are currently extremely cautious about where they spend any dollars, BPM is one area that is seeing growth, and it is surprisingly strong growth.<\/p>\n

A report <\/a>by analyst Teresa Jones<\/a> at Gartner finds that 54 percent of medium and large companies are planning at least a 5 percent increase in their spending on BPM i n2011. \u00a0While 20 percent of companies are planning to increase BPM by at least 10 percent. \u00a0The report finds<\/a> that most first-time business process implementations receive funding in the range of $50-100K, but the report notes that that level of funding is probably lower than is needed if brand-name proprietary BPM product suites are adopted.<\/p>\n

Increasingly medium and large sized companies are looking beyond brand-name offerings. \u00a0Companies are looking to SaaS and Open Source software product offerings that can be implemented at much lower price points that traditional software. \u00a0 Because lower price points are possible, BPM project funding can often easily come from departmental budgets, and these projects \u00a0are being overseen by the business units that they serve, by-passing traditional IT.<\/p>\n

The report notes that much of the increase in BPM spending will be directed to software service companies to help spec out and implement projects.<\/p>\n
