At a recent Gartner summit in Sydney, Massimo Pezzini<\/a>, Gartner Fellow and vice president, commented <\/a>that by “2016, over 50 per cent of all business application independent software providers (ISVs) would be pure software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers.” \u00a0It’s comments like this though that have many organizations worried. \u00a0The world of IT is changing quickly. \u00a0But, keeping up with change and being able to accept change can be a challenge for many organizations.<\/p>\n

A recent study by theInfoPro<\/a>, a part of the 451 group<\/a>, found that reluctance to accept any change<\/em> is the\u00a0most frequently cited reason<\/a> for what holds back organizations from adopting the cloud. \u00a0In fact, 52 percent of organizations said that change was the biggest roadblock. \u00a0That compared to 15 percent who said that up-front costs was holding them back and another 13 percent that said that security was their main issue with the cloud. \u00a0Internal change and learning are difficult for organizations to accept.<\/p>\n

Sean Hackett<\/a>, analyst for theInfoPro, told CIO<\/a>‘s Todd Weiss<\/a> that “It’s not just changing what people do all day in terms of how they use software, like moving to SaaS, but it’s also about infrastructure and about application developers and how they think about developing an application… They need to plan better and get management buy-in and user buy- in. \u00a0There is a lot of push back on these projects because not enough preparation is being done. \u00a0They need to rethink the integration complexity and figure out how to best integrate everything. They’re just challenges, but they are challenges that a lot of CIOs were not originally thinking about when they thought about the cloud.”<\/p>\n
