2011 was the year that Social Media tools shook nations across the globe. \u00a0 There were daily headlines from Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, China and Russia. \u00a0Back in the US, the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ movement swept cities and created confrontations. \u00a0It’s widely believed that without Social Media tools like FaceBook and Twitter that none of these events could have happened, or at least the scenarios for these events would have been vastly different if Social Media didn’t exist.<\/p>\n

Kimberly Harris-Ferrante<\/a>, analyst and Vice President of research at Gartner,\u00a0said to expect big impacts from new technologies on businesses in 2012. \u00a0She said that new technologies <\/a>like the cloud, mobile, tablets and social media will have “disruptive impact on many industries, requiring changes to existing processes and propelling business transformation… \u00a0Many industry business models will be challenged through 2015 as customers continue to adopt an always-connected digital lifestyle and market competitors exploit emerging technologies to achieve business growth and success….\u00a0The market, economic, demographic and technological environments that industries will face in 2012 will require them to be nimble in their operations and enterprise practices. Being agile and adopting new business practices will be imperative for survival in 2012.”<\/p>\n
