href=\"http:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/Paul.D.Hampton\/alfresco-forrester-tei-study\" target=\"_blank\">report <\/a>by Forrester Research concluded that, on average, customers of the Alfresco Enterprise Content Management (ECM) product are able to reclaim their costs of technology investment in just 10 months. \u00a0Forrester&#8217;s <a title=\"Stephen Powers\" href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/stephen-powers\/1\/6b6\/43a\" target=\"_blank\">Stephen Powers<\/a> and Total Economic Impact (<a title=\"Forrester TEI\" href=\"http:\/\/www.forrester.com\/TEI\" target=\"_blank\">TEI<\/a>) consultant <a title=\"Sebastian Selhorst bio\" href=\"http:\/\/fr.linkedin.com\/pub\/sebastian-selhorst\/5\/690\/32a\" target=\"_blank\">Sebastian Selhorst<\/a> reported their findings on the eve of yesterday&#8217;s <a title=\"Alfresco Version 4 Launch\" href=\"http:\/\/alfresco.com\/about\/events\/2012\/02\/alfresco4\/\" target=\"_blank\">Alfresco version 4 launch party<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>ECM remains high on the radar of many companies. \u00a071 percent of companies said that they plan to begin funding or increase their existing funding of ECM while 20 percent said that they will keep their current funding at the same level.<\/p>\n<p>The reasons why ECM is so popular is because:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Compliance<\/li>\n<li>Data Archiving<\/li>\n<li>Content Search<\/li>\n<li>Policy management of data across multiple repositories<\/li>\n<li>eDiscovery support<\/li>\n<li>Move employees away from sharing documents via file shares and email<\/li>\n<li>Social and Collaboration features<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Forrester report identifies the following elements of the ECM market that are evolving or changing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Many companies are experimenting with SharePoint and becoming exposed to document and data collaboration<\/li>\n<li>ECM is having more application-specific strategies<\/li>\n<li>Content-focused solutions are now preferred over one-size-fits all ECM product suites<\/li>\n<li>Cloud deployments<\/li>\n<li>Industry-specific solutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The report then specifically delves into the benefits indentifed resulting from using the Alfresco ECM product. \u00a0Benefits include<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Avoidance of software licenses<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance cost savings<\/li>\n<li>The ability to use less expensive developer resources, and<\/li>\n<li>Reduction of costs through being able to use an open source stack, like an Open Source database such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
