Harris bio\" href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/jeanne-harris\/1\/b6b\/5b4\" target=\"_blank\">Jeanne G. Harris<\/a> and <a title=\"Allan E Alter bio\" href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/allanalter\" target=\"_blank\">Allan E. Alter<\/a> at Accenture&#8217;s <a title=\"Institute for High Performance\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accenture.com\/us-en\/research\/institute-high-performance\/pages\/index.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Institute for High Performance<\/a> have <a title=\"Accenture survey on the future of Enterprise IT\" href=\"http:\/\/www.accenture.com\/SiteCollectionDocuments\/PDF\/Accenture-Outlook-Is-your-IT-function-futures-ready.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">conducted and published the results of a survey<\/a> that finds that many organizations are<a title=\"Comments on Accenture Future of Enterprise IT survey\" href=\"http:\/\/blogs.wsj.com\/cio\/2012\/06\/03\/the-other-futures-of-enterprise-it\/\" target=\"_blank\"> rethinking their IT operations<\/a>. \u00a0<a title=\"Summary of Accenture survey on the Future of Enterprise IT\" href=\"http:\/\/www.itbusinessedge.com\/slideshows\/show.aspx?c=96395\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Vizard of ITBusinessEdge<\/a> provides a summary of those findings.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>50 percent of executives say that their companies plan to transform their Enterprise IT over the next 12 months<\/li>\n<li>68 percent of executives think that things are changing so quickly that they don&#8217;t have a clear vision for what their IT group will look like by 2016<\/li>\n<li>72 percent of executives similarly say that they don&#8217;t have a clear vision for what the role of the CIO within their business will look like by 2016<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Despite the uncertainty about what IT will look like in four years time, many executives see Enterprise IT as becoming more flexible, more cost-efficient, and requiring fewer resources to manage.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>42 percent of IT executives think that global multinationals will significantly be able to lower their IT spending by 2016<\/li>\n<li>36 percent of IT executives think that it will be possible to reinvent IT infrastructure in 30 days by 2016<\/li>\n<li>35 percent of IT executives expect the number of resources needed to man the IT group to decline by at least half by 2016<\/li>\n<li>43 percent of employees say that they feel comfortable enough to be able to make their own IT decisions without consulting with a central IT group<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Accenture report describes at least five areas where Enterprise IT is likely to remain active. \u00a0These include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Setting policies on cloud computing adoption (46 percent of executives expect this)<\/li>\n<li>Setting security policies (45 percent)<\/li>\n<li>Leading projects to migrate IT to cloud computing equivalents (40 percent)<\/li>\n<li>Deciding which consumer IT to use (39 percent)<\/li>\n<li>Design of overall technology and data architecture (38 percent)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
