Manhattan Research<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"71 percent of nurses use smart phones\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wolterskluwerhealth.com\/News\/Pages\/As-Smartphone-Usage-Expands,-Survey-Says-Nurses-and-Nursing-Students-Want-Mobile-Access-to-Credible-Drug-Data.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">71 percent of nurses use a smartphone<\/a> where they work, according to a survey by Wolters Kluwer Health<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"46 percent of Americans own a smartphone\" href=\"http:\/\/pewinternet.org\/Reports\/2012\/Smartphone-Update-2012\/Findings.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">46 percent of Americans have a smartphone<\/a>, and of those, 19 percent have at least one health-care related app running on their phone, according to a <a title=\"Pew Internet survey on mobile health care\" href=\"http:\/\/mobihealthnews.com\/18965\/pew-19-percent-of-smartphone-users-have-health-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\">survey by Pew Internet<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The mobile Health Care industry is expected to <a title=\"GlobalData report on market size of Health Care Industry\" href=\"http:\/\/www.globaldata.com\/PressReleaseDetails.aspx?PRID=294&amp;Type=Industry&amp;Title=Medical+Devices\" target=\"_blank\">reach a market size of $11.8 billion before 2018<\/a>, according to GlobalData<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An <a title=\"Mobile Health Care InfoGraphic\" href=\"http:\/\/readwrite.com\/2012\/11\/14\/mobile-healthcare-faces-the-future-infographic\" target=\"_blank\">Infographic by ReadWrite<\/a> summarizes concisely some of the statistics describing the benefits of mobile health care.<\/p>\n<p>A <a title=\"Survey taken at 2012 mHealth Summit\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dotmed.com\/news\/story\/20064\/\" target=\"_blank\">survey taken among health care leaders<\/a> at the <a title=\"2012 mHealth Summit\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mhealthsummit.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">2012 mHealth Summit<\/a> found that 68 percent of them expect that mobile devices will substantially or even dramatically change US health care. \u00a0During the sessions at the summit,\u00a0<a title=\"Anthony Shimkin bio\" href=\"www.linkedin.com\/pub\/anthony-shimkin\/1\/620\/176\" target=\"_blank\">Anthony Shimkin<\/a>, senior director of marketing at Qualcomm Life, went so far as to say\u00a0&#8220;The mobile platform is arguably the largest technology platform in history. \u00a0Worldwide you&#8217;re looking that more people have access to this technology than to water, potable water, electricity and even a toothbrush.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Ting Shih bio\" href=\"www.linkedin.com\/in\/tingshih\" target=\"_blank\">Ting Shih<\/a>, founder of ClickMedix, explains in a <a title=\"Huffington Post article\" href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/ting-shih\/is-disruptive-healthcare-_b_2200609.html\" target=\"_blank\">Huffington Post<\/a> article that the nature of her company was inspired by the question of how to create a business that can have a positive impact on a billion people. \u00a0Mobile health care is the business that she decided on.<\/p>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\"><\/div>\n<div
