Two-thirds of IT managers think that Big Data will be a top strategic priority for their company over the next five years, and 60 percent of IT managers think that using Big Data will help them improve their ability to make decisions and compete globally. \u00a0Those are the results of the a report by Cisco<\/a> that surveyed the opinions of IT groups on the topic of Big Data.<\/p>\n

The results echo the results of quite a few other Big Data reports. \u00a0But the report has a bit of a twist which is understandable given the perspective of Cisco. \u00a0Generally the focus of Big Data is on the need to beef up storage. \u00a0But Cisco reminds us in this report that Big Data projects also need to think about big bandwidth and the stress that Big Data will put on the network.<\/p>\n

More than half of the IT professionals surveyed said that Big Data will cause them to increase the size of their IT budget. \u00a0These businesses expect to spend more for technology personnel and expertise.<\/p>\n
