Computing: Businesses Diversify their Cloud Portfolios"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Businesses continue to increase their investments in the cloud. \u00a0A recent survey by <a title=\"RightScale survey of Cloud computing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rightscale.com\/lp\/state-of-the-cloud-report.php\" target=\"_blank\">RightScale <\/a>investigates the extent to which the cloud is being used.<\/p>\n<p>The RightScale survey divided their respondents into four groups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Cloud Beginners<\/strong> (26 percent) &#8211; Businesses just getting started with their first cloud projects<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cloud Explorers<\/strong> (23 percent) &#8211; Businesses that have implemented some cloud projects<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cloud Focused<\/strong> (26 percent) &#8211; Businesses that have fully adopted the cloud and consider it a transformative business strategy<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cloud Watchers<\/strong> (17 percent) &#8211; Businesses drawing up strategies with no projects yet underway<\/li>\n<li><strong>Non-Cloud<\/strong> (8 percent) &#8211; Businesses for reasons of skepticism or cost have opted not to use or consider the cloud<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">The top benefits realized by using the cloud were ranked as follows<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Faster access to infrastructure<\/li>\n<li>Greater scalability<\/li>\n<li>Faster time to get applications to market<\/li>\n<li>Higher availability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div>The RightScale survey also found that large organizations tend to diversify their cloud portfolio. \u00a047 percent of larges businesses say that they have a hybrid cloud strategy that makes use of both public and private cloud services and applications.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div
