{"id":3810,"date":"2013-06-14T07:00:01","date_gmt":"2013-06-14T15:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.formtek.com\/blog\/?p=3810"},"modified":"2013-06-14T07:00:01","modified_gmt":"2013-06-14T15:00:01","slug":"enterprise-social-collaboration-is-anyone-using-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/enterprise-social-collaboration-is-anyone-using-it\/","title":{"rendered":"Enterprise Social Collaboration:  Is anyone using it?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Enterprise users say that they&#8217;re using enterprise social collaboration software, but when asked specifically about which software tool they&#8217;re using, they mention Facebook and Twitter rather than software tools that were designed specifically for social enterprise users. \u00a0<a title=\"Avanade report on global enterprise social software\" href=\"http:\/\/www.avanade.com\/Documents\/Resources\/social-collaboration-global-study.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">That result<\/a> must be disheartening to the sponsor of the survey, Avanade, an enterprise software vendor and joint venture between Microsoft and Accenture.<\/p>\n<p>74 percent said that they use Facebook; 51 percent use Twitter for work collaboration; and 45 percent are using LinkedIn.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of the Avanade report are that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Social Collaboration is being increasingly adopted and mentioned as being on the radar at companies<\/li>\n<li>Business decision makers have a &#8216;false sense of accomplishment&#8217; when it comes to what they&#8217;ve done in the area of social collaboration<\/li>\n<li>Businesses are often polarized: \u00a0those that see strong merit in using social tools and those that are skeptical that they&#8217;re anything other than time wasters<\/li>\n<li>An increasing number of businesses now say they plan to adopt enterprise social tools in the next 12 months<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\"><a title=\"Avanade's Andrew Barber bio\" href=\"uk.linkedin.com\/in\/andrewbarber\" target=\"_blank\">Andrew Barber<\/a>, deputy lead in the collaboration practice at UK branch of Avanade, <a title=\"Andrew Barber on Enterprise collaboration\" href=\"http:\/\/www.informationweek.com\/software\/productivity-applications\/facebook-ranks-top-enterprise-collaborat\/240155185\" target=\"_blank\">said tha<\/a>t &#8220;To be led completely by your workforce when it comes to collaboration is asking to end up with a completely undisciplined and unmanageable environment. \u00a0It&#8217;s very easy to let your corporate data end up on Facebook. Whether you should is quite a different matter&#8230; That business decision makers who are using social tools actually don&#8217;t see any value in them to the point that they think they&#8217;re a waste of time \u2014 that raises a flag with us and says these tools are not being deployed to achieve, or align with, strategic business goals.&#8221;<\/div>\n<div
