Advances in Big Data Analytics and Business Intelligence have made the use of analytics tools commonplace by executives and managers. \u00a0But, as of yet, few businesses open up their analytics tools to other employees.<\/p>\n

A study by the International Data Group (IDG) found that 75 percent of businesses say that a high priority for them is to align data gathering with daily operations, but not as many say that they place as much importance on extending data access tools to operational workers.<\/p>\n

IDG identifies the lack of sharing of information with all workers as a problem. \u00a0Clearly all information would not be shared with all employees, but \u201crole-specific information distribution\u201d could provide great benefit.<\/div>\n
Gerald Cohen<\/a>, president of Information Builders, said that<\/a> “enterprise data has a multiplier effect, in that its value grows exponentially when it is shared with numerous groups. \u00a0Our research indicates that while organizations understand this concept in theory, they are failing to execute it by withholding data from operational employees and other key stakeholders.”<\/div>\n

Jake Freivald<\/a>, vice-president of corporate marketing\u00a0of Information Builders, emphasized the importance of data collaboration when he said that\u00a0” frontline workers are often in direct contact with customers and have the opportunity to provide clients better service and experience with the company if they have appropriate customer or account information on hand.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
