1.1: Smoothing the Interoperability between Content Repositories"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With little fanfare or publicity, <a title=\"OASIS CMIS 1.1 standard\" href=\"http:\/\/docs.oasis-open.org\/cmis\/CMIS\/v1.1\/CMIS-v1.1.html\" target=\"_blank\">CMIS 1.1 was announced<\/a> as an official OASIS standard near the end of May 2013.<\/p>\n<p>CMIS stands for Content Management Interoperability Services. \u00a0 CMIS is an open standard that specifies a standard way to access a content repository and also allows different content management systems to inter-operate.<\/p>\n<p>Features that are part of the CMIS 1.1 version include:<\/p>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">\n<ul>\n<li>JSON protocol binding<\/li>\n<li>Type mutability<\/li>\n<li>Secondary object types<\/li>\n<li>The new cmis:item type<\/li>\n<li>Bulk updates<\/li>\n<li>Appending content<\/li>\n<li>Retention and Hold support<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li>Stored Queries<\/li>\n<li>Virtual Folders<\/li>\n<li>External content<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>The JSON protocol binding has been anxiously awaited by many &#8212; it will provide a much more concise and efficient description for data communication, and it will allow CMIS applications to be built for the browser using Javascript. \u00a0The secondary object types will allow Alfresco aspect properties to be handled without the need of a special extension. \u00a0The cmis:item is a light-weight document type that has no file content associated with it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div
