Computing: For SMEs, Other Technologies are more Important than the Cloud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Which technologies matter most for small and medium companies today?<\/p>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">A survey by <a title=\"Oxford Economics Survey\" href=\"http:\/\/www.oxfordeconomics.com\/Media\/Default\/Landing%20pages\/SAP%20SME\/Research\/SAP_SME_Executive_Summary.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Oxford Economics<\/a>, sponsored by SAP, determined the top five. \u00a0While the technologies that made the list are in themselves not surprising, the relative rankings may be.<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">The survey asked businesses which technologies do they currently employ today and found the following:<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>47.9 percent<\/strong> &#8211; Business Management Software<\/li>\n<li><strong>45.9 percent<\/strong> &#8211; Mobile<\/li>\n<li><strong>44.0 percent<\/strong> &#8211; Business Analytics<\/li>\n<li><strong>41.6 percent<\/strong> &#8211; Social Media<\/li>\n<li><strong>35.2 percent<\/strong> &#8211; Cloud Computing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">The report points out that SMEs have had a relatively &#8216;tepid&#8217; rate of adoption of the cloud. \u00a0In drilling down to determine the reasons for a lagging adoption rate, the report notes the following concerns:<\/div>\n<div id=\"_mcePaste\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>38 percent <\/strong>say that the cloud is not yet secure enough for them<\/li>\n<li><strong>35 percent<\/strong> say that they don&#8217;t fully understand what benefits the technology will bring them<\/li>\n<li><strong>34 percent<\/strong> say that they don&#8217;t have the skills to implement cloud solutions<\/li>\n<li><strong>31 percent<\/strong> say that without being able to calculate a ROI, they&#8217;re wary of the technology<\/li>\n<li><strong>19 percent<\/strong> say that they don&#8217;t want to give up control over their IT systems<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
