“Within 2 to 3 years, explosive global growth in Cloud development, adoption, and use will eclipse any growth numbers and rates previously seen or predicted,” said<\/a> Bruce Guptill<\/a>, SVP and Head of Research at Saugatuck Technology. Rapid growth in the cloud is forcing change in the way businesses do IT. “Rapidly-growing, upwelling of Cloud purchase and use is poised to surge across the business and IT landscape, far in excess of what we have experienced to this point.”<\/p>\n

Guptill said that<\/a> “the majority of user enterprises are only just beginning to understand and put into practice the increasingly loosely-coupled policies, capabilities and approaches required to effectively manage and govern Cloud use in ways that deliver predictable, reliable, and recurring business benefits over time. Given that most enterprises are built on IT and organizational architectures emphasizing tight coupling of technologies and groups, this suggests massive organizational and IT change will be required just within the next few years.”<\/p>\n

A Saugatuck survey<\/a> predicts that by 2017, businesses will prefer pure-play cloud solutions. As that plays out, businesses will need to gain greater expertise in integrating their various cloud solutions. The good news found though that the ability to integrate cloud solutions is becoming less of a worry for IT groups. Increasingly IT managers are not considering cloud integration as a major challenge when moving data and applications to the cloud.<\/p>\n

Michael West<\/a>, Vice President with Saugatuck Technology, said that<\/a> “for IT, cloud integration is fast becoming a non-issue. In fact, IT executives report significantly lower levels of concern than their line-of-business counterparts, moreover, who understand the technology risks far less well.”<\/p>\n
