{"id":4586,"date":"2014-05-05T07:00:46","date_gmt":"2014-05-05T15:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/?p=4586"},"modified":"2014-04-14T06:13:56","modified_gmt":"2014-04-14T14:13:56","slug":"security-a-new-algorithm-provides-unbreakable-encryption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/security-a-new-algorithm-provides-unbreakable-encryption\/","title":{"rendered":"Security: A New Algorithm Provides &#8216;Unbreakable&#8217; Encryption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Encryption algorithms are often based on &#8216;keys&#8217;. \u00a0Algorithms to date have been based off of selecting a key from a very large, but still finite, set. \u00a0If someone had enough time and computing resources, codes can be eventually hacked. \u00a0But now researchers have come up with a way \u00a0that enables generation of an infinite set of possible keys. \u00a0And that&#8217;s a big step forward in encryption security. \u00a0<a title=\"New Encryption Algorithm\" href=\"http:\/\/journals.aps.org\/prx\/pdf\/10.1103\/PhysRevX.4.011026\" target=\"_blank\">The new method<\/a> has also been found to be exceptionally resistant to interference from the random fluctuations or &#8220;noise&#8221;, which would make it a good choice for use in mobile and remote sensing devices.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Peter McClintock bio\" href=\"http:\/\/www.research.lancs.ac.uk\/portal\/en\/people\/peter-mcclintock(c748943f-dd77-4f36-b408-1aa01090be5f).html\" target=\"_blank\">Peter McClintock<\/a>, professor at Lancaster University Physics department,\u00a0<a title=\"Encryption\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lancaster.ac.uk\/news\/articles\/2014\/unbreakable-security-codes-inspired-by-nature-\/\" target=\"_blank\">said that<\/a>\u00a0&#8220;this promises an encryption scheme that is so nearly unbreakable that it will be equally unwelcome to internet criminals and official eavesdroppers. \u00a0Here we offer a novel encryption scheme derived from biology, radically different from any earlier procedure. \u00a0 Inspired by the time-varying nature of the cardio-respiratory coupling functions recently discovered in humans, we propose a new encryption scheme that is highly resistant to conventional methods of attack.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Aneta Stefanovska bio\" href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/stefanovska-aneta\/37\/11a\/509\" target=\"_blank\">Aneta Stefanovska<\/a>, professor at Lancaster University Physics department, said that\u00a0&#8220;knowing about some of the open problems in encryption, we suddenly realized that what we tried to understand in biology can also be applied here. &#8216;Coupling&#8217; essentially involves a time-varying delay, that when translated to encryption systems means an infinite number of secret encryption keys shared by the sender and recipient is possible. It means it is &#8216;highly resistant to conventional methods of attack&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a
