Digital Business<\/a> is defined by Gartner as\u00a0“the creation of new business designs by blurring the digital and physical world.” \u00a0Gartner says that “Digital business promises to usher in an unprecedented convergence of people, business, and things that disrupts existing business models.”<\/p>\n

Technology innovation is at the heart of Digital Business, and Gartner predicts that technology will grow exponentially in tandem with Digital Business. \u00a0By 2020,\u00a0the technology and services industry should be worth $309<\/a>\u00a0billion annually.<\/p>\n

John Girard, research vice president and Gartner, said that<\/a>\u00a0“Digital business will impact your professional life more than the emergence of the Internet.”<\/p>\n

While the term ‘Digital Business’ is one that Gartner has conceived of to describe how they expect businesses to be increasingly powered by technology, the term isn’t yet well known. \u00a0When 410 global CEO’s were asked what they think when they hear ‘Digital Business’, their answers were all over the board and there was no common pattern that stood out among their answers.<\/p>\n

Gartner says that<\/a> increased ‘Digital Innovation’ will increasingly drive the need for tighter ‘Digital Security’ leading more businesses to create ‘Digital Risk Officers’ to mitigate risks to their business.<\/p>\n
