{"id":4774,"date":"2014-08-11T07:00:22","date_gmt":"2014-08-11T15:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/?p=4774"},"modified":"2014-07-03T06:30:37","modified_gmt":"2014-07-03T14:30:37","slug":"big-data-early-adopters-often-frustrated-by-complexity-volume-and-variety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/big-data-early-adopters-often-frustrated-by-complexity-volume-and-variety\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Data: Early Adopters Often Frustrated by Complexity, Volume and Variety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Increasingly businesses and organization are collecting Big-Data levels of data, but they are often stymied when they try to actually analyze that data.<\/p>\n<p>For example, the following results published by a <a title=\"Big Data Survey by Paradigm4\" href=\"http:\/\/www.paradigm4.com\/survey2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">survey taken by Paradigm4<\/a>\u00a0found that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>91 percent of data scientists interviewed said that they need to use complex analytics when working with their Big Data now.<\/li>\n<li>49 percent say that standard Relational Databases aren&#8217;t working for them. \u00a0The amount of data that they have to work with overwhelms these systems<\/li>\n<li>76 percent of Hadoop and SPARK users said that the tools took too much effort to get working and were too slow once they did work<\/li>\n<li>39 percent say that with the advent of Big Data that their jobs have become increasingly more stressful<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Paradigm4 also put the results into an <a title=\"Paradigm4 Infographic\" href=\"www.paradigm4.com\/infographic2014\/\" target=\"_blank\">infographic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Marilyn Matz bio\" href=\"www.linkedin.com\/in\/marilynmatz\" target=\"_blank\">Marilyn Matz<\/a>, CEO of Paradigm4, <a title=\"Marilyn Matz on Big Data challenges\" href=\"http:\/\/www.paradigm4.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/P4PR07012014.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">said that<\/a> &#8220;the increasing variety of data sources is forcing data scientists into shortcuts that leave data and money on the table. \u00a0The focus on the volume of data hides the real challenge of data analytics today. Only by addressing the challenge of utilizing diverse types of data will we be able to unlock the enormous potential of analytics.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div
