\"BigData\"<\/a>40 percent of large businesses are using advanced analytics today, but only half that number say that the type of analytics jobs that they run are driven by Big Data. \u00a0\u00a0 One third of businesses say that Big Data has the potential to bring them competitive advantage and one quarter of large companies have invested in Big Data infrastructure, but it’s taking a while for businesses to integrate Big Data into their businesses. \u00a0That’s the conclusion of a recent report by Dell Computers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nearly three-quarters of CIOs and roughly one-third of CEOs at large companies say that they’re interested in Big Data.<\/p>\n

But the Dell report found that only five percent of companies say that they are getting the most out of their data. \u00a0The market segments where Big Data is being most widely used are primarily banks and finance.<\/p>\n

The Dell report was released in parallel with announcements that Dell is actively moving into the Big Data and Analytics area with product offerings. \u00a0Via the acquisition of Quest <\/a>Software in 2012, Dell now has a Big Data Analytics platform called Kitenga<\/a>. \u00a0Kitenga is a cloud-enabled software platform based on technologies like Hadoop, SOLR, Mahout machine learning, and 3D information modeling and advanced Natural Language Processing.<\/p>\n

Dell also acquired StatSoft<\/a> and has branded that product as Dell Statistic, advanced analytics software with more than a million users in the areas of\u00a0pharmaceuticals, financial services, technology and manufacturing.<\/p>\n
