Analysts agree that in 2015 businesses will be trying to piece together a coherent strategy for managing mobile as part of their IT infrastructure as smartphones and tablets are increasingly being used.<\/p>\n

Judith Hurwitz<\/a>, president and CEO of research firm Hurwitz & Associates, said that<\/a> “mobility is not an isolated environment. \u00a0It\u2019s part of the overall [computing] fabric. [It] will have to be treated as any service you\u2019re offering as a customer.”<\/p>\n

Gartner predicts that by 2017<\/a> more than 40 percent of IT managers will consider enterprise mobility management (EMM) to be a critical component of their identify and access management strategy.<\/p>\n

Richard Absalom<\/a>, senior analyst for enterprise mobility at Ovum,\u00a0said that<\/a>\u00a0“while pressure from end users continues to have an impact on the shape of the EMM market, it is time for enterprises to become more proactive with their mobility strategies and look for ways that mobile devices \u2014 whether corporate or employee-owned \u2014 and apps can work in tandem with other endpoints to transform the way that people work.”<\/p>\n

Ovum also reports<\/a> that businesses are searching for ways to simplify the development, rollout and management of mobile applications. \u00a0To do that, they’re beginning to use mobile backend-as-a-services (MBaaS<\/a>), mobile enterprise application platforms (MEAPS<\/a>) and mobile application development platforms (MADPs<\/a>).<\/p>\n
