Careless and negligent employees are viewed as a top security risk by many companies now. \u00a0A report by Ponemon and Lumension<\/a> found that 78 percent of businesses expressed that view. \u00a0Additionally, the increasing number of employees working from their home is increasing the overall security risk for an organization.<\/p>\n

\"Ponemon\"<\/a>70 percent of businesses say that the severity of malware attacks on their organizations have increased over the last year. \u00a080 percent of organizations say that the most frequent type of attack is coming from web-borne malware. \u00a0Most frequently seen are\u00a0\u00a0zero-day attacks, APTs, and spearphishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Chris Merritt<\/a>, director, solution marketing, Lumension, said that<\/a>\u00a0businesses\u00a0“have shifted their thinking and are now also attributing endpoint risk to human behavior in addition to particular device vulnerabilities. \u00a0This is a significant cultural shift to note because it illustrates how IT is starting to look at cyber security holistically. In addition to technology solutions, in 2015 IT must also take into account company policies and control processes, user awareness and overall employee education.”<\/p>\n

Luke Klink<\/a>, security program strategy consultant for Indianapolis-based Rook Security, said that\u00a0“the increase of cloud usage and mobile devices present in the network is undoubtedly an endpoint security risk to organizations. \u00a0The desire to be connected 24\/7 through mobile devices and access data wherever (cloud storage) has driven the need for corporations to formally assess and create detailed strategies to protect company and client data.”<\/p>\n
