href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Achilles%27_heel\">achilles heel<\/a> of modern digital technology is security. <a title=\"JP Morgan breech\" href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2014\/12\/23\/us-jpmorgan-cybersecurity-idUSKBN0K105R20141223\" target=\"_blank\">JP Morgan<\/a>, <a title=\"Sony Attack\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sony_Pictures_Entertainment_hack\" target=\"_blank\">Sony<\/a>, <a title=\"Target Breech\" href=\"http:\/\/krebsonsecurity.com\/2014\/05\/the-target-breach-by-the-numbers\/\" target=\"_blank\">Target<\/a>, <a title=\"Anthem breech\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wsbtv.com\/news\/news\/local\/37-million-georgians-affected-anthem-breach\/nkLLH\/\" target=\"_blank\">Anthem<\/a>, and <a title=\"Uber breech\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/news\/uber-breach-could-affect-the-data-of-50k-drivers\/\" target=\"_blank\">Uber <\/a>are just a few of the examples of businesses that have all been headlined in the news because of digital security lapses. \u00a0The convenience that technology provides is being weighed against the potential risks. \u00a0It&#8217;s becoming clear that if there is information available online and someone wants to gain access to it, then it&#8217;s likely that hackers will find a way.<\/p>\n<p>Physicists and cryptographers are working on an idea that could create a secure system for sending messages that would be uncrackable, called <a title=\"Quantum Cryptography\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Quantum_cryptography\" target=\"_blank\">quantum cryptography<\/a>. \u00a0The techniques of quantum cryptography could render existing crypto techniques obsolete.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Artur Ekert bio\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Artur_Ekert\" target=\"_blank\">Artur Ekert<\/a>, Professor of Quantum Physics at Oxford University, <a title=\"Quantum Cryptography\" href=\"http:\/\/phys.org\/news\/2014-03-quantum-cryptography-secrets-secret.html#jCp\" target=\"_blank\">said that\u00a0<\/a>&#8220;recent developments in quantum cryptography show that privacy is possible under stunningly weak assumptions about the freedom of action we have and the trustworthiness of the devices we use.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Pepjin Pinske bio\" href=\"http:\/\/www.utwente.nl\/mesaplus\/nanophotonics\/\" target=\"_blank\"><a href=\"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/HomepagePinkse-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-5164 alignleft\" alt=\"HomepagePinkse-1\" src=\"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/HomepagePinkse-1.jpg\" width=\"129\" height=\"143\" \/><\/a>Pepijn Pinkse<\/a> from the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology,<a title=\"Pepjin Pinske bio\" href=\"http:\/\/www.techtimes.com\/articles\/22352\/20141218\/quantum-cryptography-may-make-future-credit-cards-hack-proof.htm\" target=\"_blank\"> said that<\/a> &#8220;single photons of light have very special properties that seem to defy normal behavior. \u00a0When properly harnessed, they can encode information in such a way that prevents attackers from determining what the information is. \u00a0QSA (quantum secure authentication and one example of quantum cryptography) uses a key that cannot be copied due to technological limitations and is quantum-secure against digital emulation. \u00a0QSA does not depend on secrecy of stored data, does not depend on unproven mathematical assumptions, and is straightforward to implement with current technology.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Quantum Cryptography has also set up a technology race between countries. \u00a0<a title=\"Chinese and Quantum Cryptography\" href=\"http:\/\/www.technologyreview.com\/view\/528671\/the-space-based-quantum-cryptography-race\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Chinese<\/a>, for example, are planning to set up the first quantum communication satellite system to link Beijing and Shanghai. \u00a0The link would allow totally secure communication to be sent between end points.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
