For more than the last decade email has been the primary tool used by businesses for collaboration. \u00a0While there have been many attempts to create technology that can make people more productive and stay attuned to business requirements, there haven’t been any clear winners.<\/p>\n

Joel Confino<\/a>, CEO of the enterprise Q&A platform Haydle, told Mike Kapko<\/a> at CIO.com that\u00a0<\/a>\u201cthere\u2019s a lot of failures in enterprise collaboration, loosely termed, because people don\u2019t really know what they\u2019re aiming for so obviously they don\u2019t hit it… \u00a0The majority of these implementations are underperforming and plenty of them are just outright ghost towns.”<\/p>\n

Are we ripe for change now?<\/p>\n

Ken Boyd,\u00a0CIO and Senior Vice President of Services of NetScout, said that “there is an atomic shift taking place in how the enterprise operates, and so the CIO and CIO’s team must decide whether on-premise and cloud-based collaboration tools can and will address the needs of the enterprise users — anytime, anywhere, and on any device — plus smoothly work between business and consumer applications.”<\/p>\n

Paul Stokes<\/a>, CIO of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, told the WSJ<\/a> that “I am personally excited to see the emergence of enterprise social networks enabled by mobile, and I am hopeful that we can move organizations to a better way of collaborating and socializing.”<\/p>\n
