{"id":5458,"date":"2015-06-18T07:07:43","date_gmt":"2015-06-18T15:07:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/?p=5458"},"modified":"2015-05-11T07:29:51","modified_gmt":"2015-05-11T15:29:51","slug":"enterprise-content-management-ecm-aiim-sees-major-disruption-as-businesses-move-content-to-the-cloud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/enterprise-content-management-ecm-aiim-sees-major-disruption-as-businesses-move-content-to-the-cloud\/","title":{"rendered":"Enterprise Content Management (ECM): AIIM sees Major Disruption as Businesses Move Content to the Cloud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A recent report by AIIM finds the state of the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) industry under disruption and the technology will be <a title=\"Post ECM era of content management\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aiim.org\/Research-and-Publications\/Research\/AIIM-White-Papers\/ELC-ContentManagement2020\" target=\"_blank\">dramatically different in a &#8220;post-ECM&#8221; <\/a>era by 2020. \u00a0Much of the report focuses on the general move of enterprise content from on-premise systems to the cloud.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the findings of the report include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>22 percent of businesses are using the cloud to manage content<\/li>\n<li>25 percent use a hybrid combination of cloud and on-premise tools to manage content<\/li>\n<li>80 percent of businesses say that they have no problem storing non-sensitive content in the cloud<\/li>\n<li>36 percent of businesses say that the cloud is safe enough to store sensitive data<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The report also found that <a title=\"Organizations using a variety of systems to manage content\" href=\"http:\/\/info.aiim.org\/ecmdecisions\" target=\"_blank\">organizations continue to use a variety of disparate systems<\/a> when managing content. \u00a0More than half of organizations say that they&#8217;re using three or more ECM\/DM\/RM systems and nearly a quarter have five or more such systems.<\/p>\n<p>Another interesting finding is that 85 percent of organizations said that mobile document creation, workflow and edit features are all capabilities that would be useful, less than a quarter of organizations have implemented such capability.<\/p>\n<p>AIIM president <a title=\"John Mancini bio\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aiim.org\/About\/Leadership\/Executive-Management\" target=\"_blank\">John Mancini<\/a>, <a title=\"John Mancini on the current state of ECM\" href=\"http:\/\/www.prweb.com\/releases\/2015\/04\/prweb12683067.htm\" target=\"_blank\">said that<\/a> &#8220;there is no doubt that organisations still require their content to be managed properly, but the term \u2018ECM\u2019 is past its prime as a description of the revolution that is being driven by mobile, analytics, cloud and collaborative technologies. \u00a0Organizations are desperate for best practices to deal with the technology disruption that is occurring&#8230;\u00a0All of this data points to an industry in transition. There are still many organizations that can benefit from more traditional ECM solutions that automate document-intensive processes. But there is also an explosion of content outside the realm of these kinds of structured processes, along with a revolution occurring in how, where, and when knowledge workers do their jobs. Even among the current users of ECM technologies, 52% believe that within five years, ECM systems will be an undifferentiated part of the IT infrastructure.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div
