<a title=\"White Paper by Plex -- the state of cloud and manufacturing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.plex.com\/resources\/white-paper\/plex-study-shows-cloud-emerging-as-innovation-platform.html\" target=\"_blank\">white paper by Plex<\/a> called\u00a0<em>The State of Manufacturing Technology<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The report found that &#8220;the ability to connect and manage all the resources on the shop floor has a dramatic impact on virtually every aspect of manufacturing\u2026Not only do respondents see improvements in information and process flows, but they recognize that the cloud has directly enabled improvements in product quality.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Manufacturers responding to the Plex report said that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>90 percent say that moving to the cloud has had no impact on data security or even improved it<\/li>\n<li>74 percent say that using the cloud has enabled them to achieve operating improvements<\/li>\n<li>61 percent say that cloud technology has enabled them to achieve better quality in their products<\/li>\n<li>40% percent say that cloud technology is an essential element for their plans to innovate over the next five years<\/li>\n<li>66 percent say that the cloud has improved their business insight<\/li>\n<li>93 percent say that as part of their manufacturing operations they are using consumer tablets.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"Jerry Foster bio\" href=\"http:\/\/www.plex.com\/about-plex\/leadership\/jerry-foster.html\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0Jerry Foster<\/a>, chief technology officer for Plex,<a title=\"Plex on Manufacturing and the Cloud\" href=\"http:\/\/www.plex.com\/about-plex\/newsroom\/press-releases\/cloud-emerging-as-innovation-platform-for-manufacturing.html\" target=\"_blank\"> said that <\/a>&#8220;cloud software, once a low-cost path to plant automation, has become a crucial tool for manufacturers working to capitalize on new technologies, collaborate across the supply chain, gain operational insights, foster innovation and dramatically improve efficiencies throughout the supply chain.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
