{"id":5497,"date":"2015-06-01T07:00:31","date_gmt":"2015-06-01T15:00:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/?p=5497"},"modified":"2015-05-29T07:26:03","modified_gmt":"2015-05-29T15:26:03","slug":"internet-rate-of-internet-growth-slowing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/internet-rate-of-internet-growth-slowing\/","title":{"rendered":"Internet: Rate of Internet Growth Slowing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mary_Meeker\">Mary Meeker<\/a> recently delivered her <a href=\"http:\/\/kpcbweb2.s3.amazonaws.com\/files\/90\/Internet_Trends_2015.pdf?1432738078\">20<sup>th<\/sup> consecutive annual review<\/a> of the state of the internet in 197 slides.\u00a0 Meeker had been an analyst and now works as a venture capitalist for Kleiner Perkins Caufield &amp; Byers.\u00a0 She talked about what\u2019s changed over the last twenty years (a lot) and provided some hints as to what to expect in the future.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The influence of the internet has been greatest with consumers and had the least effect on governments and policy making<\/li>\n<li>Surprisingly, both the growth rate of the internet and smartphone is slowing. Internet users rose 8% last year, compared to 11 percent in 2012.<\/li>\n<li>Less than one percent of the population accessed the internet via a mobile device in 1995; 73 percent did in 2014.<\/li>\n<li>Mobile devices now account for 29 percent of total screen viewing time<\/li>\n<li>Meeker sees the next generation of currently 12- to 24-year-olds as fueling user-generated content services like Instagrams and Snapchats<\/li>\n<li>Computer drone shipments increased in 2014 by 167 percent to 4.3 million units. A $1.7 billion industry<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
