{"id":5591,"date":"2015-08-14T07:00:41","date_gmt":"2015-08-14T15:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/?p=5591"},"modified":"2015-06-29T08:09:25","modified_gmt":"2015-06-29T16:09:25","slug":"data-analytics-businesses-say-analysis-takes-too-long","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/formtek.com\/blog\/data-analytics-businesses-say-analysis-takes-too-long\/","title":{"rendered":"Data Analytics: Businesses Say Analysis Takes Too Long"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The biggest gripe that businesses have with Data Analytics is that it takes too long, according to a survey by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/survey-finds-data-analytics-too-slow-to-deliver-value-for-most-companies-300105714.html\" target=\"_blank\">Researchscape International <\/a>and sponsored by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dataintensity.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Data Intensity<\/a>. \u00a0Nearly two-thirds of businesses using data analytics cited that issue in the survey.<\/p>\n<p>Other issues that businesses have with data analytics include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Data quality. \u00a0Inaccurate data skews any attempt to make decisions from\u00a0it. &#8212; 33 percent<\/li>\n<li>Data access &#8212; 29 percent<\/li>\n<li>Poor technical support from IT &#8212; 13 percent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pub\/paul-grone\/4\/8b3\/99b\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Grone<\/a>, CIO of Totes Isotoner, said that &#8220;it&#8217;s essential that enterprises build strong platforms for supply chain analytics to better understand their customers and markets and compete on a global basis. The problem is that analytics must constantly evolve to meet demanding data and business requirements.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When asked what characteristics an ideal data analytics platform should have, respondents answered as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Data analysis-as-a-service &#8212; 58 percent<\/li>\n<li>Data modeling \u2013 47 percent<\/li>\n<li>Business consulting \u2013 43 percent<\/li>\n<li>Dashboard development \u2013 42 percent<\/li>\n<li>Master data management \u2013 36 percent<\/li>\n<li>Mobile data analytics \u2013 34 percent<\/li>\n<li>Merging internal data with external data (industry benchmarks, market demographics, etc.) \u2013 30 percent<\/li>\n<li>System implementations and architecture \u2013 24 percent<\/li>\n<li>Social media data analytics \u2013 24 percent<\/li>\n<li>Extract, transform, load (ETL) capabilities \u2013 21 percent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
