The Application Developers Alliance<\/a> recently surveyed <\/a>850 developers about topics like software languages, on-going projects, and software aspirations.<\/p>\n

Here are some of the findings of the survey:<\/p>\n

Developers use multiple languages.<\/strong> \u00a088 percent of developers use more than one language over the course of a year, and 18 percent of developers use more than five languages.<\/p>\n

Preferred Software Language.<\/strong> \u00a043 percent of developers say that they use Java, 34 percent use Javascript, 33 percent use SQL, and 23 percent use C#.<\/p>\n

Reasons for Software Failures.<\/strong> \u00a048 percent of software projects fail because of changing or poorly written document requirements. \u00a040 percent fail because of lack of funding and resources.<\/p>\n

Open Source.<\/strong> \u00a077 percent of businesses report using open source tools and technology, while 43 percent said that they’ve contributed to open source.<\/p>\n

Developer Gender.<\/strong> \u00a042 percent of new developers are female, and 30 percent of developers who started their careers within the last five years are female.<\/p>\n

Exciting Projects.<\/strong> \u00a044 percent of developers are interested in wearable devices, 39 percent are interested in robotics, 35 percent in Internet of Things, 33 percent in artificial intelligence, and 19 percent in drones.<\/p>\n
