and Business: Small and Mid-Tier Businesses Say Technology Critical Element to Survive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Maybe this seems common sense or ho-hum sort of news, but mid-tier businesses say that they view technology as a key differentiator. \u00a0A decade ago adopting anything new at a small to mid-sized company that could change the status quo would only be adopted after long deliberation, especially if the status quo was considered to be working at an acceptable level.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s not to say companies have become rash in making technology decisions, but they view technology projects now with greater urgency and more positively than in the past.<\/p>\n<p>A recent survey by <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/us\/en\/pages\/deloitte-growth-enterprise-services\/articles\/disruption-in-the-mid-market-how-technology-is-fueling-growth.html\" target=\"_blank\">Deloitte <\/a>asked mid-tier companies what their thoughts about technology are. \u00a0Technology is definitely on their minds. \u00a0The results of the survey found that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>48 percent<\/strong> &#8211; technology is a critical differentiator and key to growth<\/li>\n<li><strong>36 percent<\/strong> &#8211; technology plays a strategic role and is considered more of an investment than an expense<\/li>\n<li><strong>15.2 percent<\/strong> &#8211; technology is necessary<\/li>\n<li><strong>1.2 percent<\/strong> &#8211; technology really isn&#8217;t critical to their business<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.deloitte.com\/us\/en\/profiles\/skeathley.html\" target=\"_blank\">Stephen Keathley<\/a>, National Technology Leader of Deloitte Growth Enterprise Services, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/article\/report-the-top-tech-trends-impacting-the-enterprise\/\" target=\"_blank\">said that<\/a> &#8220;the very future of many businesses are inextricably linked to harnessing emerging technologies and disrupting portions of their existing business and operating models.&#8221;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lightsocial_container\"><div class=\"lightsocial_element\"><a class=\"lightsocial_a\"
